This project aims to challenge what the Swedish norm regarding how to seek a connection with new people looks like today. To defy this norm, the project group has created a design concept that will bring strangers together. The main goal for this design project takes inspiration in the practices of Civic design; to strengthen the social bond between civilians in their community.
Consequently, the community needed to be strengthened by getting identified, allowing the project group to move on to determine what their common factor is. The defined community for this project became people with an interest in cooking and food, the idea then was to bring them together through dinners.
The prototype that was developed was designed in such a way that a user can register, create a profile and eventually be matched with three other strangers in order to cook for each other over the span of four weeks. During this time, these strangers could hopefully create a deeper connection with each other, have a stronger sense of belonging with their community and in the future may even feel more urged to talk to strangers.
